Let's get to know Frannie

For this character, I wanted to capture my initial design; Frannie is a playful child who enjoys everything in life. Dungarees suit this character perfectly, so I began to draw out a pattern piece from dungarees in miniature scale; this was very difficult to

work out all the elements of the trousers and bib. After many failed attempts, I finally reached one that was successful. Frannie is seen wearing a cotton pink flowery top; I thought this fabric seemed to suit her character; however, I could not stretch the fabric over her head. I could only fit the dungarees to Frannie by cutting up the sides and hand sewing her into her clothing; I made a second top for this character out of more Jersey scrap, which was a success.
