In this morning's session we were introduced to paper hat draping with Julia one of our lecturers. Julia is a milliner who is very experienced in making hats. This was in preparation for our make project. Before this session, I had already started to do some research into Hobson’s choice to learn about the personalities of some of the characters. From my reading I was inspired by the characters of Alice and Maggie as they seem to represent strong women. During this session I created a paper drape for either Alice or Maggie ready to turn into a pattern for a bonnet. In the afternoon session I completed more research looking at various accessories for example bonnets, canes, parasoles and shoes. My original thought was to create a pair of shoes however my lecturer advised me that this would be a difficult task given the time frame. Although I was initially disappointed, I then came up with another idea.
